Salamatu Baiwa; Profile of An Amazon

Hajia Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma was born into the humble Muslim home of Alhaji and Hajia Abdullahi in Anyigba, Kogi State over fifty years ago, the lady now known as Hajia Salamatu Umar-Eluma is a study in resilience, hard work and faith in God.

She began her quest for education early in life at the Islamiya Primary & Quranic School, Anyigba from where she proceeded, on merit, to Community Secondary School, Ejule and then to the prestigious Federal Government College Ugwolawo as a part of the pioneering set of graduands. Having passed the mandatory O’Level examinations, Salamatu was admitted first to the Federal Polytechnic Idah and later, the Kaduna Polytechnic from where she was awarded a Higher National Diploma, Upper Credit, in Hotel & Catering Management. Her thirst for higher education also saw her through the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, where she was awarded an MBA in Management.

Salamatu’s professional career began as a Youth Corper at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers where she served with the Training Department and was subsequently deployed to the Front Desk having been absorbed as a full staff on completing her Service.
